What Drives Your Life

“I have observed that the basic motive for success is the driving force for envy and jealousy.” Ecclesiastes 4:4 (LB)

From the Book: Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren I have learned that “Everyone’s life is driven by something”. Stay tuned with me as I want to share the lessons learned from this book

The Five (5) Most Common Drives

1. Many people are driven by guilt

The guilt-driven people allow their past to control their future. They spend their lives running from regrets and hiding their entire shame and in the process, they punish themselves by sabotaging their success.

2. Many people are driven by resentment and anger

These kind of people hold on hurts and never get over them. Instead of releasing their pain through forgiveness, they rehearse it over and over in their minds. The lesson learned is that; resentment always hurts you more than it does the person you resent – while your offender has probably forgotten the offense and go on with life; you on the other side continue to stew in your pain , perpetuating the past.

3. Many people are driven by fear

Fear-driven people often miss the opportunities because they are afraid to venture out. Whatever the results of their fear; be it traumatic experiences, unrealistic expectations, genetic predispositions or maybe to having grown up in a high-controlled home, be careful! Do not prison yourself because of fear. Do not try to play safe, avoid risks, or try to maintain the status core because of fear. I learned that fear is a self-imposed prison that will keep you from becoming what God intended for you to be.

4. Many people are driven by materialism

There is a misconception that having more will make one happy, more important, and more secure. But the truth is that: all the three are not untrue. Possessions only provide temporary happiness. Why is that so? The fact is that: things do not change, eventually we become bored with them and want newer, bigger and better ones. So, the lesson learned is that: wealth can be lost instantly through a variety of uncontrollable factors, but real security can only be found in which that can never be taken from – your relationship with God.

5. Many people are driven by the need for approval

I don’t know all the keys to success, but one key to failure that I know is to try to please everyone! This is the hardest lesson I have ever learned in my life. I have learned that no matter how much you can try, you cannot appease to the whole world, know that. Do not allow the expectations of your parents, spouse, children, teachers or even friends to control your life.

These forces can drive your life to unused potential, unnecessary stress and unfulfilled life. Say “No” to such pressures! Know that: being controlled by the opinions of others is a guaranteed way to miss God’s purpose for your life. That I know for sure and have experienced it. Never allow that! Life has taught me that as much as we try to live our own lives and learn from the experiences of others and our own; there are still adults out there that are still battling and trying to earn the approval of their unpleasable parents. This is a what this book has taught me and it do the same to you

Hope this teachings that I have shared with you today will help you to assess your life; take time to amend it and refocus it so that you begin to live it fully and with an intended purpose

With special thanks to the author #RickWarren and the richness of this book 📚 May this book continue to transform the lives of many

Love you all

A realist, always fond of things that are real and matters. The lover of writing and a staunch reader, growing up with a burning passion of writing. I always have a pen a pad with me, life is a story that I never want to miss writing about. It always fascinates me when we are categorized as introverts and extroverts because that on its own is the reason behind every personality. I grew up being referred to as an “introvert” and I later understood the personality behind it: quite, reserved, peaceful, creative mind & thinking; antisocial and very analytical. Being in that space I always knew that as a writer or reader you cannot do that in a noisy or busy place; you need a quite and peaceful environment. It is interesting how I found myself being able to fit all that I love doing in this space that I find myself loving because I fit so perfectly (besides the stereotypes, it is the truth): they all fit, my list is endless but what I know for sure is that “I am born an artist” I am married to my loving and supportive husband for 23 years, Collen and we are blessed with four children; three adult boys; all grown ups and the youngest teen daughter who is still with us and in high school. I am University graduate with a B.A degree in Social Science (majored in Psychology, Sociology and Anthropology), graduated with MBA in Sports in 2011. Worked for more 13 years until 2009 when we began our diplomatic life as a family. What I am grateful for is that there is always a bigger plan and things happen for a reason. Although mostly often, we do not have answers; all that matters is that we share those experiences and life lessons to inspire and lift others up. This is my passion and I am thrilled by challenges; good or bad and my mind likes solving mysteries that I believe are real; sometimes hidden and not spoken about. My favorite authors Danielle Steel and Agatha Christie always challenges my thinking and approach in life. I began reading their books from 14 years and I am still their fan reader. They share their stories in writing and as someone who likes sharing, I quickly connected with them My life is all about the real world: family, marriage, relationships, health, children, parenting, spirituality, cooking, leisure, travel, reading, writing, engaging, connecting, encouraging......I love sharing Sharing is golden
